Brion's analysis was bang on, I just wanted the bits involved to be
less scattered, so I moved the declaration of the "returnStatus" var
that was involved into the inner block where it was used (since that
was all it was used for), and added a comment with Brion's important
(and non-obvious) observation to explain the initialization to -1.
No functional difference at all, just editorial bias :).
I did make two other changes of my own,
1) I duplicated Christoph Pfisterer's xcodeproj settings for Deployment
into the Development, and
2) I updated the embedded ssh binary to be a universal binary instead
of a PPC only binary, using the ssh binary from my 10.4.8 MacIntel.
I have managed to get svnX working, I think, just last night. For the
curious, it turns out that svnX 0.9.6 has a bug that only shows on
MacIntel, and upgrading to 0.9.9 fixes it. Version 0.9.6 can just
barely manage a checkout of 0.9.9, but it does succeed :). Now all
I have to do is figure out how to convert my tarball based directory
into an svn working copy :).
In the short term, I'll just email Bart all 3 changes.
